FAIRFAX - Demolition of the old Bull Run Drive bridge over I-66 in western Fairfax County will require reducing I-66 to a single travel lane in each direction for about one mile from 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, to 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 8. Two-way traffic will run on I-66 East to allow crews to safely perform bridge demolition activities over the westbound lanes of I-66.

Overnight Ramp Closures For The I-66 Outside The Beltway Project Next Week

FAIRFAX – Several ramps will be closed during the overnight hours next week so that crews can perform overhead bridge work, utility work, and overhead sign removal for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Traffic Stoppages Planned on I-66 East and West Near Cedar Lane During Overnight Hours Next Week for Overhead Utility Work

FAIRFAX – Traffic stoppages and lane closures are planned on I-66 East and West near Vienna during the overnight hours of Sunday, March 8, Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14, so that overhead fiber lines near Cedar Lane can be relocated. Traffic on I-66 will be stopped simultaneously in both directions for up to 20 minutes each time to accommodate the work, which is needed for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX - Demolition of the old Bull Run Drive bridge over I-66 will require reducing I-66 to a single travel lane in each direction for about one mile from 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, to 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 15. Two-way traffic will run on I-66 West to allow crews to safely perform bridge demolition activities over the eastbound lanes of I-66. Crews performed similar lane closures last Saturday night, March 7, for demolition of the bridge over westbound lanes of I-66.

Traffic Changes at Route 123/I-66 Interchange Starting on or about March 21

FAIRFAX – Drivers exiting from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South to I-66 East will use new left turn lanes and a traffic signal to reach a new ramp beginning on or about March 21. This change is necessary to build dedicated Express Lanes ramps and a shared-use path at the Route 123 Interchange as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Daytime Lane Closures on Route 29 in Centreville at I-66 on, Saturday, March 21

FAIRFAX – Route 29 will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction at I-66 on Saturday, March 21, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow for construction of center piers for the new I-66 bridges over Route 29. The left lane of Route 29 North will be closed from O’Day Drive to I-66, and the left lane of Route 29 South will be closed from Trinity Parkway to I-66. The ramps to and from I-66 East and West will remain open.

Single-Lane Closures on Cedar Lane at I-66 For Extended Daytime Hours on Weekdays Begin March 23, Continue Into April

FAIRFAX – Daily lane closures on Cedar Lane near I-66 will have extended hours beginning Monday, March 23, and continuing for approximately three weeks. Weekday lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (rather than the usual 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Traffic on Cedar Lane between Hilltop Drive and Cottage Street will be controlled by flaggers alternating direction of travel.

Overnight Lane Closures and Traffic Stoppages Planned on I-66 East in Arlington This Weekend for the I-66 Eastbound Widening Project

FAIRFAX – I-66 East from Patrick Henry Drive to the exit for Glebe Road/Fairfax Drive (Exit 71) will be narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between 9:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. Friday night, March 27, and Saturday night, March 28. Closures and stoppages are needed for travel lane shifts as part of the I-66 Eastbound Widening Project.

FAIRFAX – The ramp from northbound and southbound Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) to I-66 East will be closed during the overnight hours Sunday, March 29, through Friday, April 3, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, to Route 50 East, then stay to the left and follow signs to I-66 East.
