FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The ramp from northbound Route 29 (Lee Highway) to I-66 West in Centreville will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, August 6, through 5 a.m. Monday, August 9, for paving operations. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the intersection with Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal, drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

FAIRFAX – Continued demolition of the old Route 50 East bridge over I-66 will require multiple nights of closures and traffic stoppages on I-66, along with associated ramp closures and detours tonight (July 30) and next week (August 2-7). Planned traffic impacts include reducing I-66 East and West approaching Route 50 in Fairfax to a single travel lane in each direction for about one mile tonight and Monday through Thursday nights (August 2-5). Two-way traffic will run on the I-66 West side so that crews can safely perform works to prepare for demolition of the old concrete bridge deck.

FAIRFAX – The ramp from eastbound Route 50 to I-66 East is scheduled to be closed Friday night, July 30, from midnight to 4 a.m. for crews to move concrete barrier. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East. 

FAIRFAX – I-66 East and West will close nightly August 3-6 to allow for installation of bridge beams for a new Route 28 South bridge over I-66. I-66 East will close at Route 29 (Lee Highway) during the overnight hours Tuesday and Wednesday, August 3-4. 

FAIRFAX – The travel lanes on eastbound I-66 between Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Centreville and Route 28 will be shifted into a new configuration for approximately two months beginning on or about August 3.

FAIRFAX – Continued demolition of the old Route 50 East bridge over I-66 will require all lanes of I-66 West approaching Route 50 to close nightly between Tuesday, July 27, and Sunday, August 1. The I-66 West ramps to/from Route 50 will also be closed. Traffic will be detoured using Route 50 and Route 608 (West Ox Road). The Route 50 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Continued bridge beam installation for the new I-66 bridges over Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Centreville will require reducing Route 29 to a single travel lane in each direction starting at 9 p.m. Friday, July 30, continuing through 4 a.m. Monday, August 2. Two-way traffic will run on the northbound side of Route 29 beginning around 9 p.m. Friday through Saturday evening. The traffic pattern will switch around 6 p.m. Saturday, with two-way traffic running on the southbound side of Route 29 for the remainder of the weekend. Closures are needed for crews to safely lift bridge beams into place over Route 29. Work will be on-going throughout the weekend during both daytime and nighttime hours.

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West approaching Vaden Drive in Vienna are planned next week, July 26-31, as bridge beam installation continues for the new Express Lanes access ramps at Vaden Drive. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West approaching Vaden Drive in Vienna are planned this weekend, July 16-17, and next week, July 19-23, for continued installation of beams for the new Express Lanes access ramps at Vaden Drive. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The travel lanes on westbound I-66 between Route 50 and Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) will be shifted to new roadway along the outside of the interstate on or about Saturday night, July 24. To implement the traffic shift, all lanes of I-66 West approaching Route 50 will be closed during the overnight hours that night. The I-66 West ramps to and from Route 50, and the ramps from I-66 West to Monument Drive and Stringfellow Road will also be closed. Traffic will be detoured using Route 50 and Route 608 (West Ox Road).

Planned traffic impacts include full closure of I-66 West at Route 50 during the overnight hours Saturday, July 17, through Tuesday, July 20, and Saturday, July 24. The I-66 West ramps to/from Route 50 will also be closed. Traffic will be detoured using Route 50 and West Ox Road.

To implement the traffic shift, all lanes of I-66 West approaching Route 50 will close during overnight hours July 16. The I-66 West ramps to and from Route 50, and the ramps from I-66 West to Monument Drive and Stringfellow Road will also be closed. Traffic will be detoured using Route 50 and Route 608 (West Ox Road).

FAIRFAX – The ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South to I-66 East in Centreville will be closed throughout the weekend of July 9-12. The closure will begin Friday, July 9, at 10 a.m. and continue through 4 a.m. Monday, July 12, for paving operations. Northbound traffic will be directed to continue about one mile farther north to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Southbound traffic will be directed to continue farther south to the intersection with Stone Road, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal on to Route 29 North, travel to Route 28 North, then exit to I-66 East.  

FAIRFAX – The ramps from northbound I-495 to I-66 East and I-66 West are scheduled to be closed nightly Tuesday, July 6, through Thursday, July 8, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday night, July 9, from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving and implementation of a traffic shift. Drivers will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike). Drivers traveling to I-66 East will exit to Route 7 East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East. Drivers traveling to I-66 West will exit to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
