I-66 in Manassas Area Reduced to One Travel Lane in Each Direction During Overnight Hours Next Week, March 28 – April 1, for Continued Bridge Beam Installation

FAIRFAX – I-66 East and West near Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) in Manassas will be reduced to a single lane in each direction for about one mile during the overnight hours Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, for continued bridge beam installation for a new access ramp to the future I-66 Express Lanes.

New Loop Ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South to I-66 East to Open on or about Tuesday, March 29

FAIRFAX – The new, permanent loop ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South to I-66 East is planned to open during the daytime hours on or about Tuesday, March 29.

Relocated Exit from I-66 West to Route 28 North and Braddock Road/Walney Road Opens on or about March 22

FAIRFAX – The exit from I-66 West to Route 28 North and Braddock Road/Walney Road will be relocated approximately one-half mile prior to (east of) the old exit on or about Tuesday morning, March 22.

I-66 in Manassas Area Reduced to One Travel Lane in Each Direction During Overnight Hours This Week, March 16 and 19, for Bridge Beam Installation

FAIRFAX – I-66 East and West near Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) in Manassas will be reduced to a single lane in each direction for about one mile during the overnight hours Wednesday, March 16, and Saturday, March 19, for continued bridge beam installation for a new access ramp to the future I-66 Express Lanes. I-66 East will be closed with two-way traffic running on I-66 West so that crews can safely install bridge beams over the eastbound lanes. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Overnight Lane Closures and Traffic Stoppages on I-66 Near Route 50 This Week, March 17-19, for Waples Mill Road Bridge Beam Installation

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West near Route 50 in Fairfax are planned  this week, Thursday, March 17, through Saturday, March 19, for bridge beam installation for the new Waples Mill Road Bridge over I-66. The bridge is being reconstructed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Overnight Closures on I-66 West at Route 50 in Fairfax This Week for Continued Overhead Bridge Work

FAIRFAX – Bridge beam installation continues this week at the I-66/Route 50 Interchange with nightly lane closures, stoppages, ramp closures, and a full closure of I-66 West. On Monday, March 14, the westbound lanes of I-66 and associated ramps will be closed during the overnight hours with traffic detoured via Route 50 West. For the remainder of the week – Tuesday, March 15, through Thursday, March 17 – work will require westbound I-66 to be reduced to a single travel lane with nightly stoppages planned. Associated ramps to/from I-66 West will also be closed nightly with detours posted. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – I-66 West approaching Route 50 will be reduced to a single travel lane with stoppages during the overnight hours Monday, March 14, through Thursday, March 17, for continued installation of bridge beams for a new access ramp from the future westbound I-66 Express Lanes to Route 50 West. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The exit from I-66 West to Route 28 North and Braddock Road/Walney Road will be relocated approximately one-half mile prior to (east of) the old exit on or about Friday morning, March 18. The new exit location is immediately after the I-66 bridge over Stringfellow Road and will be the permanent location for this exit as part of the Transform 66 Outside of the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Traffic Pattern Change at Nutley Street/I-66 Interchange Starting on or about March 14

UPDATE (3/10/2022): Due to forecasted inclement weather March 11-12, this work is being rescheduled to next weekend, March 18-21.

FAIRFAX – Travel lanes on Nutley Street will shift and the ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 West will be closed as part of work planned for this weekend, March 11-14, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Drivers heading from Nutley Street South to I-66 West will proceed about 500 feet farther past the current ramp to turn right at a traffic signal onto a temporary ramp to access the interstate. This detour will remain in place for approximately three weeks.

Full Closure of I-66 West at Route 50 in Fairfax Next Week, March 9-12, for Overhead Bridge Work

FAIRFAX – All lanes of I-66 West approaching Route 50 will close nightly, March 9-12, to allow for installation of bridge beams for a new access ramp from the future westbound I-66 Express Lanes to Route 50 West as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Westbound I-66 traffic will be detoured around the closure using Route 50 and Route 608 (West Ox Road). Drivers traveling on I-66 West during this time should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.

Overnight Lane Closures Planned on I-66 East in Dunn Loring March 4 – 9 for Overhead Bridge Work

FAIRFAX - I-66 East approaching Cedar Lane in the Dunn Loring area will be reduced to a single travel lane during the overnight hours this weekend, Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5, and Sunday, March 6, through Wednesday, March 9, of next week. The closures are necessary for continued installation of bridge beams for a new access ramp to the future I-66 Express Lanes along eastbound I-66. Eastbound I-66 traffic will run in a single lane behind barrier on the old general-purpose lanes during this period. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
