FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The ramps from northbound and southbound Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) to I-66 West are scheduled to be closed during the overnight hours Friday, October 28, through Sunday, October 30, for paving. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Crews will close the ramp from I-66 West to Monument Drive during the evening hours Thursday, November 3, for continued construction related to the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. The ramp will reopen later this year as a full-time, Express Lanes-only ramp. The ramp will no longer provide access from the general-purpose lanes on I-66.

FAIRFAX – Reconstruction and paving of the permanent ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South will continue tonight, October 28, during daytime hours on October 29, and during extended overnight hours throughout next week, October 30-November 4. For crews to safely perform this work, the ramp will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, Friday, October 28, continuously through 6 p.m. Saturday, October 29. The ramp will also be closed nightly Sunday, October 30, through Friday, November 4, from 8 p.m. until noon the following day.  This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and I-66 Express Mobility Partners (EMP), the Commonwealth’s private partner and operator of the new 66 Express Lanes, announced today that the remaining eastern section of the new 66 Express Lanes is on track to open before the end of 2022, with opening potentially to occur as early as mid-to-late November. This remaining section of express lanes spans approximately 13 miles from Route 28 in Centreville to I-495 (Capital Beltway). Drivers are advised that there will be continued daytime and nighttime construction, and traffic shifts throughout this stretch of I-66, as crews complete final preparations for the remaining express lanes. All work is weather dependent, and weather could affect the final schedule for opening the express lanes. Specific opening date(s) and details will be announced in the coming weeks as final work progresses.

FAIRFAX – Beginning during the early morning hours on or about Monday, October 31, the first of two roundabouts on Nutley Street at I-66 will open to traffic as part of the redesigned I-66/Nutley Street Interchange. Drivers traveling to northbound Nutley Street from I-66 East will enter and proceed around the roundabout to go north on Nutley Street. Drivers traveling northbound and southbound on Nutley Street will use the roundabout to continue on Nutley Street. This traffic pattern change will allow for the removal of the temporary traffic signal control at the intersection of Nutley Street and the ramp from eastbound I-66. A second roundabout, on the north side of I-66, is anticipated to open to traffic later this year.

FAIRFAX – The ramps from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South to I-66 East will be closed continuously for multiple days and nights for final paving next week. Beginning Wednesday morning, October 26, through Friday morning, October 28, the ramp from Route 123 South to I-66 East will be closed. The ramp from northbound Route 123 to I-66 East will then close Friday morning and reopen during the early morning hours Saturday, October 29. During these closures traffic will access I-66 East using the new ramp to the future eastbound 66 Express Lanes.

FAIRFAX – Reconstruction and paving of the permanent ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South will continue throughout this weekend and next week, October 21-28. For crews to safely perform the work, the ramp will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, October 21, continuously through noon on Monday, October 24, and again Monday night, through Friday, October 28, beginning at 8 p.m. each night until noon the following day. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Crews are preparing to close the I-66 ramps at Monument Drive and Stringfellow Road in Fairfax County to accommodate continued construction related to the 66 Express Lanes. As early as Monday, October 24, the ramps to I-66 East from Monument Drive and Stringfellow Road are scheduled to close, with the ramps from I-66 West to Monument Drive and Stringfellow Road planned to close in early November. Both ramps will reopen later this year as full-time, Express Lanes-only ramps. The ramps will no longer provide access to and from the general purpose lanes on I-66.

FAIRFAX – The ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South will be closed nightly Monday, October 17, through Friday, October 21, from 8 p.m. until noon the following day. The closures are needed for ramp reconstruction and paving of the permanent ramp. Traffic will be detoured farther west to the exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South travel lanes approaching I-66 will shift into their permanent alignment using a new bridge span beginning during the early morning hours Saturday, October 15. Following this shift, Route 123 North and Route 123 South traffic will each have its own bridge span over I-66. The Route 123 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West will be closed this weekend beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, October 14, continuously through 5 a.m. Monday, October 17, for ramp reconstruction to prepare for the permanent ramp opening. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West will be closed Wednesday, October 12, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift and traffic pattern change.
