Lane Closures

I-66 East from Route 29 Gainesville to University Boulevard
Monday, Nov. 11, through Thursday, Nov. 14: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Friday, Nov. 15, and Saturday, Nov. 16: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
All through lanes on I-66 East will be closed at University Boulevard for bridge demolition between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Traffic will be diverted to the collector-distributor road. All lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. weekdays, and by 9 a.m. on weekends.

I-66 West from Jermantown Road to Monument Drive
Friday, Nov. 15: 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Three lanes will be closed on westbound I-66 for overhead gantry removal. Drivers should expect periodic 20-minute stoppages.

I-66 East and from Route 123 to Blake Lane
I-66 West from Cedar Lane to Blake Lane
Tuesday, Nov. 12, Thursday, Nov. 14, and Friday, Nov. 15: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Three lanes will be closed on eastbound and westbound I-66 for work on overhead lines at Blake Lane for Dominion Power (Tuesday) and Cox Communications (Thursday and Friday). Drivers should expect periodic 20-minute stoppages.

 Stringfellow Road between Fair Lakes Boulevard and Village Square Drive
Ongoing through late November
The right lane of southbound Stringfellow Road will be closed for underground utility relocation. The lane will be reopened weekdays between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. to accommodate the evening rush.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Clearing continues in preparation for major construction activities. Grading and drainage work is underway at the future University Boulevard Park and Ride Lot.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Lane shifts and clearing continue on both Route 28 and I-66 in preparation for major construction activities. Clearing and grading are underway to create a new entrance to the ballfields at E.C. Lawrence Park and for the Poplar Tree Road bridge over Route 28.

Tuesday, Nov. 12, through Friday, Nov. 15: 11 a.m. to noon
Temporary 15-minute stoppages of traffic on I-66 East and West for blasting operations. Additionally, stoppages will occur on the ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West, the ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East, and the ramp from Route 29 Centreville to I-66 East starting at 11 a.m.

Three lanes will be closed on westbound I-66 for overhead gantry removal. Drivers should expect periodic 20-minute stoppages.

I-66 at Chain Bridge Road/Route 123

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Lane shifts and clearing continue on I-66 and in the Route 123 interchange in preparation for major construction activities. Part of the median has been paved temporarily to allow traffic to be shifted to the left. Box culverts are being built in the interchange to accommodate the future shared use path. A retaining wall is being built between Jermantown Road and Waples Mill Road.

Sunday, Nov. 10, through Thursday, Nov. 14: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, and Saturday, Nov. 16: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
Demolition of the Vaden Drive bridge over I-66 West will require lanes closures. All through lanes of I-66 West will be closed between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. with traffic diverted to the collector-distributor road. All lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. weekdays, and by 9 a.m. on weekends.

I-66 East from Route 123 to Nutley Street
Wednesday, Nov. 13, and Thursday, Nov. 14: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Friday, Nov. 15: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
Demolition of the Vaden Drive bridge piers will require lanes closures. All through lanes of I-66 East will be closed between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. with traffic diverted to the collector-distributor road. All lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. weekdays, and by 9 a.m. on weekends.

I-66 at I-495/Capital Beltway

Lane shifts and clearing continue on I-66 and in the interchange in preparation for major construction activities.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS
Ramp from I-495 North Express Lanes to I-66 West
Tuesday, Nov. 12, through Friday, Nov. 15: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The ramp from the northbound I-495 Express Lanes to westbound I-66 will be closed with traffic detoured to I-66 East to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, make a left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 South Express Lanes
Tuesday, Nov. 14, and Wednesday, Nov. 15: Midnight to 4 a.m.
The ramp from eastbound I-66 to the southbound I-495 Express Lanes will be closed for crews to set concrete barrier. Drivers will be directed to use the I-495 South general purpose lanes.
