On Dec. 8, 2016, the commonwealth signed a Comprehensive Agreement with I-66 Express Mobility Partners to build express lanes on Interstate 66 Outside the Beltway.
I-66 Express Mobility Partners, a consortium of Cintra, Meridiam, John Laing Group Plc and APG, will finance, design, build, maintain and operate the project under the Public-Private Transportation Act.
The winning bid will provide approximately $2.5 billion in construction, $800 million in net present value for transit capital and operating improvements over the term, $350 million in net present value for other corridor improvements over the term, and $578 million at financial close in 2017 to fund local transportation projects along the I-66 corridor.
