FAIRFAX – Traffic stoppages and lane closures are planned for I-66 East and West during the overnight hours of Friday, Oct. 4, so that Cox Communications can relocate overhead cable lines near Gallows Road. Traffic will be stopped simultaneously in both directions on I-66 and on the ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West multiple times for up to 20 minutes each to accommodate the work, which is needed for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX –The ramp from I-66 East to Route 234 (Prince William Parkway) South is scheduled to close during overnight hours Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Wednesday, Oct. 2, between midnight and 4 a.m. each night. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road), make a left at the traffic signal onto northbound Sudley Road, follow signs to I-66 West, and then exit onto Route 234 (Prince William Parkway).

FAIRFAX – Bridge beam installation for a new bridge and ramps continues at the Route 28 and I-66 Interchange, requiring closure of Route 28 North at I-66 during the overnight hours Wednesday, Oct. 2, and Thursday, Oct. 3. Double lane closures on I-66 East at Route 28 will also be required during the overnight hours Sunday, Sept. 29, through Thursday, Oct. 3. Drivers will be directed to follow signed detours and should expect delays if traveling in this area. Closures are needed to safely install bridge beams over the roadway and ramps.

FAIRFAX – Traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes are planned in both directions of I-66 between Route 29 in Centreville and Stringfellow Road, and in both directions of Route 28 between Braddock Road and I-66 between the hours of 11 a.m. and noon on weekdays, starting Tuesday, Oct. 1 and continuing for approximately the next two months. 

FAIRFAX – Multiple lanes will be closed on both I-66 East and West tonight between Route 50 and Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) to enable follow-up work related to emergency roadway repairs that were performed earlier today.

FAIRFAX – Bridge beam installation for new ramps at the Route 28 and I-66 interchange will require nightly closures of I-66 West at Route 28 between midnight and 5 a.m. beginning Sunday, Sept. 15, through Thursday, Sept. 19. 

FAIRFAX – Drivers should expect nightly lane closures for paving work on I-66 between Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) and Route 29 in Centreville starting this Sunday night, Sept. 15, and continuing into October. Double lane closures will occur during overnight hours, as well as during evening and morning hours in non-peak commute directions, to accommodate the work. Drivers should plan ahead and expect delays.

FAIRFAX – Lane striping operations will occur next week throughout the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project corridor between Route 29 in Gainesville and I-495.

FAIRFAX – The ramp from the northbound I-495 Express Lanes to I-66 East is scheduled to close during the overnight hours of Saturday, Sept. 14, between midnight and 4 a.m. to shift lanes on the ramp.

FAIRFAX – Major construction work to install bridge beams for two new ramps over I-66 and Route 28 will begin Monday, Sept. 9, as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The previously announced ramp closure from Saintsbury Drive to I-66 East will occur tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 4, with drivers being directed to use the Nutley Street Interchange.
