FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the I-66 interchanges at I-495, Nutley Street, Route 50, Route 28, Route 29 Centreville, and Route 234 (Prince William Parkway) for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and stoppages of up to 20 minutes are scheduled for I-66 East and West approaching Gallows Road on Monday, November 2, through Friday, November 6, for overhead bridge work for the new Gallows Road Bridge over I-66. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Route 28 North will be shifted to a new bridge over I-66 beginning on or about the morning of Wednesday, November 4. The new, permanent alignment for Route 28 is slightly to the east of the existing Route 28 bridge over I-66 and is one of several major traffic pattern changes happening this year at the I-66 and Route 28 Interchange area as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

FAIRFAX – Shreve Road near Oldewood Drive in Falls Church will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic for about three weeks beginning on or about Monday, November 2, for sewer line relocation work as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Traffic will be controlled around the clock by a temporary traffic signal and will alternate directions during this short-term traffic pattern change.

FAIRFAX – Bridge beam installation for the new Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66 will require lane closures and stoppages on I-66 East and West next week during overnight hours Monday, November 2, through Friday, November 6, as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Traffic stoppages are planned for both directions of Nutley Street just north of I-66 on Wednesday night, November 4, between midnight and 4 a.m., so that Verizon can perform a line relocation. At least one 15-minute stoppage of both northbound and southbound Nutley Street is planned to occur to accommodate this work, which is needed for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

VDOT, I-66 Express Mobility Partners, and FAM Construction (the design-builder for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project) will provide two live, online presentations and question-and-answer sessions on recent construction progress and upcoming activities and impacts.

FAIRFAX – Route 28 North will be shifted to a new bridge over I-66 beginning on or about the morning of Saturday, October 31. 

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the I-66 interchanges at I-495, Nutley Street, Route 50, Route 28, and Route 234 (Prince William Parkway) for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and stoppages of up to 20 minutes are scheduled for I-66 West approaching Gallows Road Tuesday, October 27, through Friday, October 30, for overhead bridge work on the new Gallows Road Bridge over I-66.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold two virtual construction update meetings next week to discuss recent construction progress and upcoming activities. The online meetings will include a presentation and question-and-answer period with representatives from VDOT, I-66 Express Mobility Partners, and FAM Construction. Each night will cover a different portion of the project corridor.

FAIRFAX – Minor changes to the I-66 West ramps to Route 28 North and South will occur on or about the morning of Thursday, October 22.

FAIRFAX – I-66 West near I-495 will be closed during the overnight hours, Friday, October 23, through Sunday, October 25, for crews to lift bridge beams in place for a new I-66 Express Lanes ramp. 

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the I-66 interchanges at I-495, Nutley Street, Route 29 in Centreville, and Prince William Parkway for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

FAIRFAX – The ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East in Fairfax will be closed during overnight hours, Friday, October 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, for bridge beam installation for the new Route 50 bridges over I-66, as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area and consider using alternate routes. 

FAIRFAX – Ramp closures are scheduled to occur this week in Arlington for paving as part of the I-66 Eastbound Widening Project.

FAIRFAX – Beginning on or about Monday, October 12, eastbound Prosperity Avenue between Dorr Avenue and Merrilee Drive in Merrifield will be temporarily closed while crews relocate underground utilities as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. The right turn from northbound Dorr Avenue to eastbound Prosperity will also be closed during this time. The closure will be in place for approximately four weeks, through Monday, November 9.

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the I-66 interchanges at Nutley Street in Vienna and Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Centreville for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

FAIRFAX – The Stringfellow Road ramps to I-66 East and from I-66 West will convert from alternating, one-way travel to full-time, two-way travel beginning on or about Tuesday, October 13, as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Drivers on Stringfellow Road traveling to I-66 East, and drivers on I-66 West traveling to Stringfellow Road will be permitted to use the ramps 24 hours a day.  HOV-2 restrictions will remain in effect during peak periods.
