FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 Interchanges throughout the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project corridor. Closures may be rescheduled due to the forecasted snow.

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages are scheduled on I-66 East and West between Nutley Street and Gallows Road Monday, February 1, through Friday, February 5, for overhead bridge work at Cedar Lane. This Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project work may be rescheduled due to inclement conditions.

FAIRFAX –  I-66 East and West approaching Route 50 in Fairfax will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction for about one mile during the overnight hours next week, as bridge beam installation continues at the I-66/Route 50 Interchange. Two-way traffic will run on I-66 West so that crews can safely install bridge beams over the eastbound lanes of I-66. Work is weather dependent and could extend to the weekend if there is inclement weather. The Route 50 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Traffic stoppages are planned for I-66 East and West on Tuesday, February 2, between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., so that Dominion Energy can work on overhead wires near Route 50 in Fairfax. Traffic on I-66 will be stopped in both directions simultaneously four times for up to 20 minutes each to accommodate the work, which is needed for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Lane closures, ramp closures, and detours on I-66 and Route 50 in Fairfax continue nightly Tuesday, January 26, through Friday, January 29, as bridge beam installation continues at the I-66/Route 50 Interchange. Work planned for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday nights will close I-66 West and require detours using Route 50 West. Thursday night work will reduce I-66 to a single travel lane in each direction for about one mile with two-way traffic running in the westbound lanes of the interstate. The Route 50 Interchange is being rebuilt for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

FAIRFAX – Beginning on or about Thursday, January 28, the ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West will be temporarily reduced to one lane for construction of a new ramp as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. The lane closure will be in place through mid-March 2021.

FAIRFAX – Continued bridge beam installation and overhead bridge work for a new pedestrian bridge for the future 66 Parallel Trail will require closure of the I-66 West ramps to Route 28 North and the Braddock Road/Walney Road overpass from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly on Thursday, January 28, and Friday, January 29. A shared-use path is being built through the Route 28 Interchange as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

FAIRFAX – All lanes of I-66 West approaching Route 50 will close nightly next week, January 24-27, to allow for continued installation of bridge beams for the new Route 50 East Bridge over I-66. Multiple I-66 West ramps to/from Route 50 will also be closed. The Route 50 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Drivers exiting I-66 West to Nutley Street North and South will use a new, temporary ramp beginning on or about Sunday, January 31.

FAIRFAX – Eastbound I-66 will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Groveton Road in Manassas from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly next week, Monday, January 25, through Thursday, January 28. Closures are necessary for crews to install overhead bridge beams for new Express Lanes access ramps to and from the futureBalls Ford Road Park and Ride Lot as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South in Centreville will be reduced to a single lane in each direction at I-66 for construction of bridge piers for the new I-66 bridges over Route 29 on Saturday, January 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

FAIRFAX – All lanes on I-66 approaching Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) will close nightly again this weekend, January 22-25, to allow continued demolition of the old northbound and southbound Route 123 bridges over I-66 as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – All lanes of I-66 West approaching Route 50 will close nightly, January 20-22, to allow for installation of bridge beams for the new Route 50 East bridge over I-66. The I-66 West ramps to/from Route 50 will also be closed. Traffic will be detoured using Route 50 and West Ox Road. The Route 50 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Beam installation for the new Route 50 East Bridge over I-66 continues next week and will require lane closures and stoppages on I-66 West and Route 50 East next week during the overnight hours Sunday, January 17, through Tuesday, January 19. The Route 50 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Demolition of old I-66 bridge piers will require Route 29 (Lee Highway) North in Centreville to be reduced to a single lane during overnight hours next week, Monday, January 18, through Friday, January 22, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Overnight ramp and lane closures at the I-66/Route 28 Interchange are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours Thursday, January 21, through Saturday, January 23, for crews to shift the Route 28 South travel lanes in preparation for upcoming demolition of the old Route 28 South bridge over I-66. Eastbound Braddock Road will also be closed each night between Newton Patent Drive and Route 28. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Bridge beam installation for a new pedestrian bridge for the future 66 Parallel Trail will require closure of the I-66 West ramps to Route 28 North and the Braddock Road/Walney Road overpass during the overnight hours Tuesday, January 19, and Wednesday, January 20. A shared-use path is being built through the Route 28 Interchange as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South will be shifted temporarily to the new bridge over I-66 during daytime hours on or about Thursday, January 21. The Route 123 bridges are being replaced as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.  Access to and from I-66 at Route 123 will remain in its current configuration.

FAIRFAX – All lanes on I-66 approaching Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) will close nightly this weekend, January 15-18, to allow demolition of the old northbound Route 123 bridge over I-66 as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. I-66 traffic will be detoured around the closure using the ramps at the Route 123 Interchange. Drivers traveling on I-66 during this time should expect delays and consider using alternate routes. Route 123 will remain open during these operations, but drivers should expect possible delays crossing over I-66 and follow police direction.

FAIRFAX – Bridge beam installation for the new Route 50 East Bridge over I-66 will require lane closures and stoppages on I-66 West and on Route 50 East next week during the overnight hours Sunday, January 10, through Friday, January 15, as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area during these times and should consider using alternate routes.

FAIRFAX – Continued demolition of old I-66 bridges will require Route 29 (Lee Highway) North in Centreville to be reduced to a single lane during overnight hours next week, Monday, January 11, through Friday, January 15, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Demolition of the old Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North bridge over I-66 is scheduled to continue next week during overnight hours, Monday, January 11, through Friday, January 15, nightly. Demolition of the old bridge will overlap with utility work scheduled for next week on the new Route 123 bridge over I-66 and requires overnight lane closures on I-66 East and West. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West approaching Vaden Drive in Vienna are scheduled to occur Monday, January 11, through Friday, January 15, for overhead bridge work at Vaden Drive. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – The Washington & Old Dominion Trail (W&OD Trail) near Idylwood Park (between Virginia Lane and the trail bridge over I-495) in Falls Church will be realigned slightly to the south of the current trail for approximately five months beginning on or about Thursday, January 14, through June 2021.  

FAIRFAX – The left-turn lane and ramp from northbound Route 29 (Lee Highway) to I-66 East in Centreville will close for approximately four months beginning on or about the early morning hours on Saturday, January 9.
