Full Weekend Closure of the Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East Planned Next Weekend, July 8-11, for Ramp Reconstruction

FAIRFAX – The ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East will be closed next weekend from 10 p.m. Friday, July 8, continuously through 5 a.m. Monday, July 11, for ramp reconstruction. Traffic will use the ramps at the interchange to access Route 50 East. Drivers will be directed to the Route 50 West exit, stay to the right to I-66 West, then stay to the right to exit to Route 50 East. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

I-66 West Travel Lanes at Nutley Street to Shift to New Roadway Configuration on or about July 6

FAIRFAX – Travel lanes on I-66 West between Nutley Street and Vaden Drive will be shifted to a new, long-term configuration beginning during the early morning hours on or about Wednesday, July 6. When this traffic change is implemented, the two right travel lanes will be separated from the two left travel lanes by barrier. Drivers will be directed by signs and message boards to stay to the right at the lane split to exit to the Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Metrorail Station (Country Creek Road and Virginia Center Boulevard). This temporary traffic pattern will remain in place for approximately two months, and is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week, June 26-30 For Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

Overnight Lane Closures Planned on West-and-Eastbound I-66 in Fairfax This Weekend, June 24-25, and Next Week, June 27-30, For Overhead Bridge Beam Installation

UPDATE (6/30): Lane closures on I-66 East will begin at 9 p.m. tonight, June 30, to provide additional time for crews to complete this work.

FAIRFAX – Two travel lanes on I-66 West approaching Monument Drive in Fairfax will be closed during overnight hours Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25, as bridge beams are installed to widen the bridge. Overhead bridge beam installation will continue during overnight hours next week, Monday, June 27, through Thursday, June 30, with I-66 West approaching Monument Drive reduced to a single travel lane Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, eastbound I-66 traffic will be directed into a single travel lane and diverted behind barrier onto new roadway. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – I-66 East approaching Stringfellow Road in Centreville will be reduced to a single travel lane during the overnight hours next week, Monday, June 20, through Friday, June 24, for continued bridge beam installation for a ramp from the future I-66 Express Lanes to the eastbound I-66 general-purpose lanes and exit to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway). Traffic will be directed into one lane and diverted behind barrier onto new roadway to get around the work zone these nights. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

I-66 East Travel Lanes Approaching Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) to Split Beginning on or about Saturday, June 18

FAIRFAX – Travel lanes on I-66 East between Groveton Road and Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) in Manassas will be shifted into a split roadway configuration during the early morning hours on or about Saturday, June 18. When this traffic change is implemented, the two right travel lanes will be separated from the two left travel lanes by a barrier-enclosed construction area. Drivers will be directed by signs and message boards to stay to the right at the lane split to access Route 234 Business. This traffic pattern will remain in place through fall 2022.

FAIRFAX – I-66 East approaching Stringfellow Road in Centreville will be reduced to a single travel lane during the overnight hours next week, Monday, June 13, through Friday, June 17, for continued bridge beam installation and concrete work for a ramp from the future I-66 Express Lanes to the eastbound I-66 general-purpose lanes and the exit to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway). Traffic will be directed into one lane and diverted behind barrier onto new roadway these nights. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Weekend-long Closure of Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West Planned June 17-20 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Ramp reconstruction work will require the ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West to be closed continuously throughout next weekend, June 17-20. The ramp will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, June 17, and remain closed through 5 a.m. Monday, June 20. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West. The closure is needed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Extended Left Lane Closure, Travel Impacts Planned on I-66 East from Route 29 Gainesville to Route 29 Centreville Beginning on or about Tuesday, June 14, for I-66 Express Lanes Final Paving

FAIRFAX – Drivers should expect possible delays on I-66 East due to an extended closure of the left lane between Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Gainesville and Route 29 in Centreville beginning on or about Tuesday, June 14. This section of eastbound I-66 will be reduced to three travel lanes, with the left lane (HOV lane) closed around-the-clock, for approximately six days. Additional lane closures will occur in this area during overnight hours. These lane closures will allow crews to complete this section of roadway paving for the future I-66 Express Lanes Outside the Beltway. Extending the single lane closure for multiple days will enable crews to work more efficiently, reducing traffic impacts from additional paving during the coming months.

Weekend-long Left Lane Closure on I-66 West in the Centreville Area Beginning this Friday Night, June 10

FAIRFAX - The left lane of I-66 West will be closed over Compton Road (about 1.5 miles west of Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Centreville) for bridge work beginning at 9 p.m. this Friday, June 10, continuously through 5 a.m. Monday, June 13.
