FAIRFAX – The southbound side of Monument Drive over I-66 in Fairfax will be reduced to a single travel lane continuously during both daytime and overnight hours next week beginning on or about Wednesday morning, July 5, through Sunday afternoon, July 9, for bridge joint repair and median construction. The right turn lane to access the westbound 66 Express Lanes will remain open during this time. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Poplar Tree Road is scheduled to be closed over Route 28 from the E.C. Lawrence Park Access Road to Newbrook Drive starting on or about Monday night, June 26, continuously through Friday morning, June 30, for pavement reconstruction. Drivers will be directed around the closure via Westfields Boulevard to reach the opposite side of Route 28. The shared-use path along Poplar Tree Road over Route 28 will remain open to bike and pedestrian traffic during this period. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

FAIRFAX – Final paving of the ramps at the I-66/Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) Interchange will require overnight closures with detours tonight, Wednesday, June 14, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The westbound I-66 collector-distributor lane and the I-66 West ramps to/from Route 286 North and South will be closed for this work, which is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

UPDATE (6/13/2023): The opening of the new Nutley Street bypass lanes at I-66 has been delayed. They will not open tomorrow morning, Wednesday, June 14. 

FAIRFAX – A permanent traffic pattern change will be implemented on Nutley Street North and South at I-66 during the early morning hours on or about Wednesday, June 14. 

FAIRFAX – The ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East will be closed nightly during the overnight hours beginning tomorrow night, Tuesday, June 13, through Friday night, June 16, from midnight until 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

UPDATE (6/6/2023): The overnight bridge deck pours have been completed on Gallows Road at I-66. Nighttime closures will not be needed for the rest of the week. 

FAIRFAX – Gallows Road over I-66 will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction during the overnight hours multiple nights next week, June 5-9, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for concrete bridge deck pours for the new Gallows Road South Bridge over I-66. Southbound Gallows Road will be closed with two-way traffic running on Gallows Road North during this period.
