I-66 at Route 29 in Gainesville

MAIN ACTIVITIES
The first 1,000 spaces are open at the University Boulevard Park and Ride lot. An additional 1,000 spaces are being built. University Boulevard is being modified for future Express Lanes access to and from the east.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS
I-66 East from Route 29 (Lee Highway) Gainesville to Route 234 (Prince William Parkway)
Friday, November 20: 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Three right lanes will be closed for crews to relocate barrier and to implement a traffic shift on the collector-distributor lane.

Ramp from I-66 East to Route 234
Friday, November 20: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
Saturday, November 21: 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) South, turn right on to Balls Ford Road, then travel about two miles west to Route 234.

Ramp from Route 29 North Gainesville to I-66 East
Friday, November 20: 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The ramp will be reduced to one travel lane for crews to implement a traffic shift.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Clearing and blasting continue to make room for future construction activities. A new bridge is being built for the ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business South.

I-66 West from Cub Run to Bull Run Drive
Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Two lanes will be closed for overhead bridge work.

Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North
Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, November 20, through 5 a.m. Monday, November 23
The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Route 234 Business South, continue to the intersection with Balls Ford Road, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal on to Route 234 Business North.

I-66 West from Route 234 Business to Groveton Road
Sunday, November 22: 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Tuesday, November 24: 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Two lanes will be closed on Sunday night, with three lanes closed on Tuesday night for crews to implement a traffic shift.

I-66 West from Cub Run to Route 234 Business
Ongoing
Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for extended paving operations. The HOV lane will be closed indefinitely. Weekdays between 5 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. daily, three travel lanes will be open to traffic. Either two lanes will be closed between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, leaving two travel lanes open, or three lanes will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, leaving one travel lane open.

I-66 at Route 28/Sully Road

MAIN ACTIVITIES
The new bridge for Route 28 North over I-66 is being constructed along with multiple ramps and flyovers at the interchange. Abutments are being built for the new bridge connecting Braddock and Walney Roads. A new E.C. Lawrence Park access road has been built. The I-66 bridges over Route 29 are being demolished and rebuilt to accommodate future Express Lanes and provide room for future mass transit and future widening of Route 29.

Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 North and South Centreville
Sunday night, November 22: Midnight to 4 a.m.
Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24: 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 29.

I-66 East at Compton Road
Starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 21, through 6 a.m. Sunday, November 22
One lane will be closed for bridge work from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 21. Then a second lane will be closed from 8 p.m. through 6 a.m. Sunday, November 22.

I-66 East at Compton Road to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville
Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24: 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Three lanes will be closed for crews to implement a traffic shift.

Ramp from Route 29 North and South Centreville to I-66 East
Monday, November 23, and Tuesday November 24: 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Traffic on northbound Route 29 will be directed to continue farther north to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Traffic on southbound Route 29 will be directed to make a U-turn at Stone Road then join the detour route to Route 28 North, and follow signs to I-66 East.

Ongoing
Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for extended paving operations. The HOV lane will be closed indefinitely. Tuesday, November 24: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Two lanes will be closed for crews to implement a traffic pattern change and open new ramps.

Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
Tuesday night, November 24: Midnight to 4 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Traffic will continue farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, and then follow signs to Route 28 North.

I-66 East will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road during the overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly. I-66 West will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road during the overnight hours from 9:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. nightly. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. each night.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Multiple traffic pattern changes will occur as exit ramps are moved and added to accommodate new express lanes at the Route 123 Interchange. Box culverts have been built in the interchange for the future shared use path. Retaining walls and noise walls are being built along I-66.

I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50
Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24: 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
I-66 East will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road during the overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly. I-66 West will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Jermantown Road during the overnight hours from 9:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. nightly. The Vaden Drive bridge over I-66 is being demolished and rebuilt. The new bridge is expected to open in Sept. 2020. Work will begin on the new Nutley Street Interchange in 2020.

I-66 at I-495/Capital Beltway

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Bridge piers are being built for new ramps that will connect the new express lanes with I-495 general purpose and express lanes. A new pier and abutments are being built for the new Gallows Road bridge.

I-66 West from west of Gallows Road to Cedar Lane
Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24: 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Two lanes will be closed for crews to shift barrier.

Gallows Road North and South between Bellforest Drive and Cottage Street
Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday, November 25: 8 a.m. to noon
One lane will be closed for utility work.

I-66 East and West between Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) and Cedar Lane
Sunday, November 22, through Tuesday, November 24: 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
I-66 East and West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Gallows Road for overhead bridge work at Gallows Road. Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m.

Ramp from 495 Express Lanes North to I-66 West
Sunday, November 22, through Tuesday, November 24: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 East, to Route 7, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Three lanes will be closed for bridge construction.
